If you want to be a successful newsletter writer, you should read about your craft. Put simply, you must read newsletters about newsletters.

Newsletter creators are folks who write and publish content via email consistently. With platforms like Substack, Beehiiv, Kit, and Letterhead making it easier than ever to launch and monetize email publications, newsletter writers can be individuals or businesses sharing their thoughts, experiences, and expertise on a variety of topics.

Newsletter writing is often a form of curated journalism, essay writing, or premium content delivery directly to subscribers' inboxes.

With the advance of the creator economy and the renaissance of email-first content, newsletter writing has become a particularly lucrative profession, offering multiple revenue streams through subscriptions, sponsorships, and affiliated products.

To further make this point, email newsletter guru Matt McGarry recently posted a $10,000-per-month newsletter plan on X that seemed achievable.

Ten of the Best Newsletters About Newsletters

It includes five curated article summaries. When I am searching for content for that Friday edition, I read many blogs and learn a ton.

I also check out hundreds of email newsletters, so I thought it made sense to publish this list, too.
